Labor Day Weekend

We had a full, but wonderful LDW! Maggie, Joe & Kailey came in town starting Thursday night and stayed through Monday afternoon. It was so great being all together again - something we take full advantage of when the opportunity presents itself!

We were together pretty much the entire weekend, but the main event for the weekend was going to the zoo. We went to Lincoln Park Zoo in the city and were there pretty close to opening, which is a good thing because the parking was already getting full and it only got worse as the day went on.

We had such a fun time showing Kailey all the animals, watching her smile and giggle, and seeing her walk every now and then. Kailey just took her first steps a few days before arriving in Chicago for the weekend, so she got lots of practice in with all of us around! It is so fun to see her at this stage - kids are just the cutest when they're learning how to walk. A little wobbly here and there, a little unsure, but the independence they now have is fun to see in full force.

It was a great weekend and I wish we had more of them, but as I learned with Jack and our college experience....distance makes the heart grow stronger and it makes each moment together that much more special. The same is true when we get to see all 3 - M,J, & K!!!

Oh - and by the end of the weekend Kailey had gotten pretty comfortable with Sadie & Spenser. She just pushed them away on their nose or body and got her space back. Sadie was a little more stubborn about it and wanted to keep sniffing Kailey. When they were first together on Thursday Kailey was showing us how she can walk and Sadie went right up to her, stood on her hind legs and put her front paws on Kailey's back. Haha - it was funny to see, as Sadie was about Kailey's height now, but Kailey was not at all a fan about this. Again, by the end of the weekend they were buds!! :)
